The Wild World Of Animals showcases a unique blend of animal diversity and environmental messages coupled with non-stop laughter. Presented on a colorful stage, the jungle-themed set makes learning from the entire cast of animals an enjoyable time for the whole family.

The animals in the show feature arthropods, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. The audience learns interesting animal facts, laughs at their antics and witnesses their amazing natural abilities.

Running Time: App. 50 minutes

Appropriate for: All Ages

Price: Title 1 Schools: $10/student, with 1 free chaperone ticket for every 10 students;

All others $12/student, with 1 free chaperone ticket for every 10 students.

CURRICULUM STANDARDS

Core Curriculum Standards for Science (NGSS-Aligned)

K-5:

  • K-LS1-1: Students will observe the behaviors and features of animals during the show to describe what these animals need to survive.
  • 2-LS4-1: Students will make observations of animals in the show to learn about the diversity of living things in different habitats.

6-8:

  • MS-LS2-2: Students will observe how animals interact with their environments and discuss how human activities affect animal populations.
  • MS-LS4-4: Students will learn how natural selection can influence the survival of certain species, including critically endangered animals, as presented in the show.

9-12:

  • HS-LS2-7: Students will understand how the loss of habitat affects ecosystems and how it can lead to endangered species, a key message in the show.
  • HS-LS4-5: Students will learn about the relationship between biodiversity and human activities, including the impact on endangered species as demonstrated by the animals in the performance.

Responding (Anchor Standard 7 & 8)

  • TH.1.K-12: Students will observe and describe the behaviors and characteristics of the animals, focusing on how the animals’ actions reflect their natural instincts and adaptations.
  • TH.1.K-12: Students will interpret the presenter’s message about environmental conservation and the importance of protecting animal habitats, discussing how this message is conveyed through the animals’ appearances and behaviors.

Connecting (Anchor Standard 10 & 11)

  • TH.1.K-12: Students will connect the information presented about animals to their own knowledge of wildlife and habitats, understanding how human actions can impact animals and ecosystems.
  • TH.1.K-12: Students will relate the endangered status of certain animals to current environmental challenges, learning how conservation efforts can help protect species from extinction.
